Born on January 22, 1959, in Hull, UK, McDonald's career traversed various clubs, showcasing his versatility as a striker.
Started at the age of 16 (apprenticeship of 2 years before signing Prof forms at the age of 18. by Hull City as a tall, strong striker.
Made a move to Holland which changed his career tremendously.
Chose to stay in Holland in his bid to secure a Premiership medal in Holland with PSV Eindhoven in 1986.He has played with and against some of the best players in the world.
Top clubs such as Newcastle United, Sporting Lisbon and Besiktas followed.
Football career and transition to management
After getting the absolute best out of his career as a footballer, Rob McDonald went further as a Head Coach. Achieved all his Coaching badges and coached clubs in their Premiership league in South Africa, Holland, Slovakia and Ireland.
